Papahawk began his career in 1954 playing in a band wih Felix Cavaliere of the "Young Rascals." In 58 he joined a rock group, "Frankie and The Echoes." They cut their first record with Savoy in 1959.

Through the years, Papahawk continues the jazz legacy as a vocalist from "Cleopatra's Needle" on the upper west side to "Smalls" in Greenwich Village where he met drummer Billy Kaye. They immediately became friends.

Presendtly, (Hawk), as Billy calls him, sings at The Jazz Foundation on West 48th. Street at their Monday night jam series.

Also, Papahawk has been performing with his group and as a soloist for a series of Westchester Venues.

He has performed with his Papahawk Experience, as well as a keyboard vocalist for the Westchester Arts Council on their performance roster for the past seven years.

Having composed many songs, both lyrics and music, he occasionally performs originals at "Studio Two" on 814 South Street in Peekskill NY. At other times he teaches poetry to people in rehabilitive settings.

His most recent group, "The Papahawk Experience consists of Papahawk on vocals, Tony Jefferson on Drums, John Goldberg on Bass and Luke Franco on guitar. They perform and various restaurants in Yonkers Mamaroneck and Peekskill. Check their

John Goldberg graduated from Suny Purchase under the guidance of Doug Munro, head of the jazz department for many years. John teaches piano around the County and has performed extensively throughout Manhattan, Westchester and Connecticut .

Billy Kaye has drummed himself into fame playing with such notables as Thelonious Munk, John, Faddis Gloria Lynn ect ect

Athough Papahawk found his roots singing He is president and CEO of a 501c3 Corporation aimed at bringing music, poetry, and art into the lives of many. At Studio Two in Peeksill, he introduced poetry in concert with jazz into a town which now is quickly becoming a jazz icon after "One Station Plaza" closed down. His only hope is to bring about a resurgence in jazz and poetry. His lastest venture is to continue the jazz vission in various restaurants thoughout Wesstchester, so that the quality, texture and beauty of jazz will continue into our next generation.

Once a week he conducts a poetry workshop in his home.
